Sophisticated<br \/>\nconsumers demand entirely new levels of site interactivity and customized content.\u00a0 And this demand far outstrips the capabilities of today\u2019s fast-aging and decentralized tools and technology.<\/p>\n<p><strong>So how does this impact your online marketing materials?<\/strong> Generally speaking, to borrow from our colleague <a href=\"http:\/\/contentmarketingtoday.com\/2010\/06\/17\/how-the-sizzling-shift-to-mobile-computing-is-changing-more-marketing-rules\/\" target=\"_blank\">Newt Barrett,<\/a> your customers want to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>connect and communicate wherever they are, whenever they want<\/li>\n<li>consume information via the Internet, including e-mail, news, web-based content<\/li>\n<li>get their social media fix<\/li>\n<li>consume locally based information from word processing documents, spreadsheets, PDF files, etc.<\/li>\n<li>write a short e-mail or text messages<\/li>\n<li>listen to music, watch videos, watch TV or movies<\/li>\n<li>play a game now and then<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>With this in mind, to cite Barrett, here&#8217;s how to exploit this mobile tipping point:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Make your website readable on the most important  mobile devices:<\/strong> iPhones, Androids, and iPads. Lose Flash. Any flash on your website must assume a secondary role  on your home and landing pages today.<\/li>\n<li>C<strong>reate an iPhone or an iPad app  that leverages these these devices<\/strong>.\u00a0 Think about how the  touchscreen might improve visitor interaction with your content.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Get  social with Facebook, Twitter or other applications<\/strong> where your customers will likely be when they&#8217;re in a research (or buying) mood.\u00a0 Most people today  actively  pursue social media opportunities on their handheld devices.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t  make people print something out<\/strong> if they can simply show it on their  mobile device.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Your customers are  on the move today. Right his minute. Make it easy to connect with them, for them to connect with you. Of course, all of this assumes that you have great content for them to consume.
